Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM)

Insurance and floodplain management map issued by FEMA that identifies special flood hazard areas and risk premium zones in a community. Some areas have maps that also show 100-year flood elevations, 500-year floodplain boundaries, and regulatory floodway boundaries. Note that the latest FIRM issued for a community is known as the “effective FIRM” for that community.
