North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88)

Geodetic elevation datum created by the National Geodetic Survey in 1988 and used to calculate or compare elevations. Used by FEMA in many recent Flood Insurance Studies as the basis for measuring flood, ground, and structural elevations. However, many older flood maps still use the National Geodetic Vertical Datum.
