Perigean spring tide

Perigean spring tides have even higher high tides and lower low tides than spring tides. They occur when a new or full moon coincides with the moon reaching its closest point of approach to Earth (a phenomenon known as “perigee”), typically 6-8 times per year. Sometimes referred to as “extreme high tides.”
